For as far back as I can remember I have wanted to be President of the United States. After campaigning for President Obama in 2008 and 2012 I realized why I never made it. My commitment to my core values was vague and not thought through.
Since my retirement in mid-2016 I have tried to analyze how my role in life pertains to my country, family and neighbors. I have decided that we are better than those who govern us. We are braver, stronger of character, and far more honest with each other than our politicians are with us. That is why I have decided to run to serve the 86th district in the Ohio House of Representatives.
I’m running to support, encourage and work for honesty, transparency and diversity in Ohio government. I support strong public education, family farms, and sensible gun control. I oppose the increase in corrosive tribalism and immense funding of political campaigns. I will encourage the return of local funding by the state and federal governments for infrastructure and projects to improve to lives of the 86th district and all of Ohio’s citizens. I will support laws that give our citizens the right to choose, especially in regard to their own health. I am not afraid to be independent of thought and I will not be an ideological stooge.
Other areas that we must address include; private charter schools, payday lending, government ethics and morality, honesty and fairness just to name a few.
I am new to politics, but I’m not naive to the challenges and hardships of running. I will listen to all my constituents and will make decisions on what that counsel indicates is best for all of us without bending to political or financial interests. My door will always be open.
